Dr. Baker was a great idealistic scientist, he founded Laboratory 1718 on top of Baker Island alongside his comrade, Dr. Rooney. Dr. Baker's purpose was to bring peace for the future by inventing new technology that could help the human race. He had split of with Erudito and formed a team of scientists just to pursue his dream.
As far as he was concerned, he and his Laboratory may have parted from Eruditio, but their goals were the same: to bring about a prosperous future for the human race. What he didn't know was that the joining of additional mad scientists would lead to his downfall. In the end, he was backstabbed by one of his colleagues, Prof. Giraad, who stole all control over the laboratory.
Angela was Dr. Baker's last creation before he was betrayed. When the mad scientists of Laboratory 1718 heard that Dr. Baker had managed to create a life form outside of a human body, they convinced themselves that Baker had betrayed them by keeping this information to himself. And so they ordered his past creations, Alpha and Beta, to hunt them Dr. Baker and his android down.
As they were closing in, Dr. Baker managed to put Angela into a flight capsule and save her, instructing her to seek his good friend Dr. Rooney.
Before Dr. Baker's downfall, by chance he had found a small fox with a bag of potato chips over his head...that fox's name was Chip. Baker brought Chip back to his laboratory and genetically enhanced him with superior intelligence and was tasked with testing the lab's portal technology.
