A reincarnation of the Black Dragon, but Yu Zhong had no memory of the Black Dragon at first. After the Great Dragon accepted him as an apprentice, Yu Zhong went to the Land of Dawn in search of adventure where he met Luo Yi and was awakened by her. After that Yu Zhong rushed into the Forbidden Area to get back the reverse scale [belonging] to the Black Dragon and became the complete Black Dragon.

Lore

In the Oriental world, full of life, the ancient and powerful Great Dragon shelters the whole continent so that his people can make a good living in this paradise of liberty. In the starry night, [a] meteorite streaks across the sky, and the Great Dragon in the Dragon Altar suddenly feels uneasy. "The Black Dragon wanted to destroy the Dragon Altar and dominate the Cadia Riverlands" The alternation of years has brought the avenger in the prophecy, and Cadia Riverlands will face an unprecedented disaster.

In the remote Forbidden Area of Dragon Soul, the reverse scale sealed for thousands of years has finally attracted the Lord of Reincarnation. The memory of past life and the fate of this life is just like a dream, which keeps running through Yu Zhong's mind, and an awesome amount of power starts flowing through his body. Then, Yu Zhong opened his eyes slowly. He has already recalled his previous life and begins to take back his own strength gradually.

The strength coming from the reverse scale keeps gushing. While absorbing this coveted strength, Yu Zhong falls into memories: the pedantry and conservatism of his master; the stupidity and cowardice of his younger apprentice; and then the hidden threat behind this seemingly peaceful era. He can't help laughing. More than ten years on, Cadia Riverlands didn't grow stronger under the leadership of the Great Dragon. What the rise of the Southern Abyss and the recovery of the evil forces has brought is the coming fire of the war. The fight may break out at any moment, Cadia Riverlands, always resting on its laurels, is so small and full of danger.

Yu Zhong walks up the stairs of the altar step by step and with each step, his strength gets stronger. The reverse scale gradually devours his body, but he doesn't show any fear. Instead, he enjoys the pain and torment, even though he knows clearly the ancient Black Dragon on the reverse scale will control his consciousness. With the returning of the reverse scale, Yu Zhong's body starts mutating. The scales have pierced his flesh and grown wildly.

He feels that his appearance is changing slowly, but the two forces in his body still can't be combined smoothly. The increasing pain is almost tearing Yu Zhong's body apart, and his consciousness has been corroded by the reverse scale and faded. But Yu Zhong still insists. He knows what he lacks will come soon.

In the continuous tearing, he begins to lose his consciousness, and the gushing power turns the Forbidden Area of Dragon Soul into a ruin. At this moment, in the name of the Great Dragon, the Oriental Fighters coming [to stop] him have also arrived. Now, everyone knows that if the Black Dragon is not stopped from the resurrection, Cadia Riverlands will face an inevitable catastrophe. However, Luo Yi who is lying in ambush, uses her Yin Yang Circle to trap Zilong and others. Only Tang Wanwan escapes from that due to her dexterous body movements.

Yu Zhong is about to be fully controlled by the consciousness of the Black Dragon [on] the reverse scale and fall into madness. At this critical moment, Wanwan takes out the keepsake once belonging to Yu Zhong, which is the primordial spirit with dim luster.

Wanwan has never doubted Yu Zhong's true nature. She firmly believes that Yu Zhong is not as heinous as everyone thinks and his mind has been devoured by the reverse scale. As long as the primordial spirit returns, Yu Zhong can change back to what he used to be. She rushes to Yu Zhong, who is out of control and insane, with the primordial spirit, and puts it into Yu Zhong's body. After a strong light, he starts recovering his sanity and has also recognized the grown-up Tang Wanwan.

Yu Zhong turns to Wanwan, who is looking at himself expectantly. A complex look comes into his eyes. To everyone's surprise, Yu Zhong doesn't expel the reverse scale from his body but completely combines the primordial spirit and it. After recovering sanity, Yu Zhong not only has prevented the ancient Black Dragon from devouring his own consciousness and mastered all reverse scale's power, but also can transform between the two forms of the dragon and the human, and become a real Fierce Dragon.

All of these are actually part of his plan. He took advantage of Wanwan's kindness and simplicity to let her keep the primordial spirit which could decide his destiny, and at this moment completed all his plans by making use of her unconditional trust.

The reverse scale returns, and the Black Dragon appears. He no longer has any weakness, and founding hegemonies is the only goal for him. He soars up into the sky in black dragon form. Looking down on this ancient land, he wants to overturn all the obsolete orders and make Cadia Riverlands strong and rich in his way.

Luo Yi stares madly at the black dragon flying in the sky. She knows that her long-cherished wish has finally come true and a new era is coming.

[The world will only remember the name of whoever is strong and won't query his original intention.] He will conquer every land of Cadia Riverlands and wait for the ultimate duel with the Great Dragon.

Cursing Touch Buff Yu Zhong applies Sha Residue to enemy heroes every time he deals damage to them. Sha Residue erupts reaching 5 stacks a and begins consuming 1 stack every 0.5 seconds. Each stack consumed deals 30 (+20% Extra Physical Attack) (+target's 2% Lost HP) Physical Damage, restores 6% of Yu Zhong's lost HP and increased his Movement Speed by 30% for 2 seconds. Skill terms Lost HP Lost HP = Max HP - Current HP.

Golden Staff's unique passive Endless Strike can now affect applied Sha Residue stacks on basic attack.

Skill 1

Dragon Tail AOE Yu Zhong infuses his power into his cloak and turns it into a weapon, which starts to attack nearby enemies after a short delay. The inner area of the cloak deals 220–400 (+100% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage, whereas the sharpened edge deals 275% damage and applies 2 stacks of Sha Residue. Skill terms Physical Skill Deal Physical DMG to enemies. Triggers Spell Vamp. Extra Physical Attack Total Physical Attack bonuses from sources like equipment, Emblems, and skills (does not include base Physical Attack and Physical Attack Growth from leveling up).

Soul Grip Slow Mobility Yu Zhong unleashes the Dragon Soul, dealing 150–300 (+120% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage to all enemies in front and slowing them by 60% for 1 second. Upon target hit, Yu Zhong's next Basic Attack will be enhanced [for 5 seconds], dealing 108–216 (+100% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage [and (+100% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage behind the target]. (Upon multiple target hit, Yu Zhong applies Sha Residue multiple times with the enhanced Basic Attack, dealing up to 200% damage.) Skill 3

Furious Dive Mobility CC I once passed on this technique to a girl. Yu Zhong leaps towards the designated area with his full strength, dealing 180–270 (+90% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage. He is able to dash one more time in the movement direction. After a short delay, enemies within the area of effect will be knocked airborne for 1 second and take 180–270 (+90% Extra Physical Attack) additional Physical Damage. Skill terms Blink Movement ability that can pass through obstacles. Airborne High level Crowd Control: Prevents a target from moving, and using Basic Attacks and skills. Can interrupt a large number of skills, and Blink/Charge effects. Physical Damage Skill Deal Physical DMG to enemies. Triggers Spell Vamp.

Ultimate

Black Dragon Form Morph Buff After channeling for 0.7 seconds, Yu Zhong transforms into the Black Dragon Form. For up to 7 seconds, he cannot use skills but can move freely and will knock back enemy heroes in this path while dealing gains 180–310 (+80% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage. He also gains 600–1000 (+200% Extra Physical Attack) Max HP, becomes immune to control effects, and ignores obstacles in this form. Upon exiting the Black Dragon form, Yu Zhong enters Dragonoid Form, gaining increased range on all of his skills for 10 seconds. Skill terms Control Immunity You are immune to enemy CC effects (Suppressed excluded) within the duration. Block Immunity Your movement can’t be blocked within the duration. Max HP The maximum HP currently can have.

When suppressed while in Black Dragon Form, the crowd control effect still applies but Yu Zhong will neither be reverted into his human form nor to his Dragonoid Form. Upon exiting his Black Dragon Form and transforming into his Dragonoid Form, Yu Zhong will be untargetable at that moment right until his Dragonoid form transformation is complete. Bugs/errors If Yu Zhong casted Soul Grip but didn't follow up with the enhanced Basic Attack and transformed into his Black Dragon Form immediately, even with his Soul Grip stacks still on, upon turning into his Dragonoid Form, he will not Dash on his next Basic Attack nor will it deliver its bonus effects. If Yu Zhong casted Furious Dive but didn't follow up with the additional Dash and transformed into his Black Dragon Form immediately, upon turning into his Dragonoid Form, he will not be able to perform the additional Dash.

• Yu Zhong (于忠) is based on a real-life official with the same name during the Northern Wei Dynasty. This can be compared to his rival Zilong, which is based on a real-life military general with the same name.
• Yu Zhong can fly above obstacles during Dragon form, and is one of the only heroes who can do so.
  • The other heroes who can bypass obstacles are Hanzo (as a Demon Pneuma), Pharsa (during Wings by Wings), Ling (with Tempest of Blades), and Kadita (during Ocean Oddity).
• He is a Fighter with 4 abilities along with Masha and Sun.
• Black Dragon Form is the skill with the longest cooldown, at 85 seconds on level 1.
• Yu Zhong has the most hero quotes in the game.^{[citation needed]}
